Welcome to Sanctuary Collective

This site is a starting point for a collaboration around Sanctuary and Migration studies at University of Washington

About Us

What is this?

Our Sanctuary Collective idea started with a 2016-17 collaboration grant from the UW Simpson Center for the Humanities, which led to a reading seminar at UW iSchool, a talk at the Simpson Center as part of the "Practicing Humanities Now" series, and the publication of a manifesto: Sanctuary Planet: A Global Sanctuary Movement for the Time of Trump.

We can join forces

Other Sanctuary initiatives at UW and elsewhere are taking shape. Let's work together so we can have the strongest impact! This page and communication tools can be the start of something, or we can migrate it and join forces with your efforts, whatever is easier.

This effort was initiated by Megan Carney (Anthropology) Ricardo Gomez (Information School) Katharyne Mitchell (Geography) Sara Vannini (Communication
